FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol – a pretty popular method of uploading and downloading files between a PC and a web server. With an FTP program like FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can set up a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, whereas the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the program window. All you’ll have to do to send files or entire directories in either direction is to mark them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. File Transfer Protocol is preferred by plenty of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be restricted to connect to just one directory on the server, so a web designer, for example, can complete their task without accessing any other folder in your web hosting account. Furthermore, the presence of different FTP accounts will also permit you to create multiple Internet sites with web design apps like Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their corresponding directories on the server.
FTP Accounts in Website Hosting
You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you wish with each of the Linux website hosting that we offer, because we’ve chosen not to limit this functionality. Thus, you can manage numerous websites all at once or provide other individuals with access to multiple folders. Once a certain task has been accomplished and you would not like that individual to be able to connect to your web files anymore, you can edit the password associated with the given FTP account or you can just delete that account with a couple of mouse clicks and quit worrying about someone connecting to it again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all shared web hosting accounts, will allow you to see the complete list of the active FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes just one click of the mouse to administer various options for any of them – to change the password or the access path, to download an auto-config file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you host your sites under a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a different FTP account for each one of them, as we haven’t restricted this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-navigate Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also check the complete list of all the accounts that you have set up, along with the folder that each one can access. If necessary, you’ll be able to change the password for a given account or to update its access path with several clicks of the mouse. You can also remove an account with ease in case you don’t need it anymore – for instance, if you’ve hired a designer who is done with the site and you don’t want them to connect to your website files any longer. For convenience’s sake, we have made different video tutorials, that will help you administer your FTP accounts with no effort if you’ve never used a web hosting service before.
FTP Accounts in VPS Hosting
With a virtual private server from us, you will be given the option to create an unlimited number of FTP accounts to access your website content. This is valid for all VPS plans, regardless of the hosting Control Panel that you have selected during the registration procedure – Hepsia, DirectAdmin or cPanel. Based on your needs, you can create a different FTP account for each website or several FTP accounts with access to a particular folder – in case you’d like to permit a number of users to connect to that folder using their very own set of log-in details. Even if you have never had a hosting account previously or if you’ve got experience only with a shared one, you won’t have any problems creating, removing or modifying any FTP account on your server, since everything’s done via a simple-to-work-with graphical interface and takes just a couple of mouse clicks.
